Wayne County Extension will be a host location for 2017 Agronomy School webinar series developed by the OSU Extension Ag Crops Team.  The webinars will be held in the commissioners meeting room located on the upper level of the county administration building.  The webinars will begin at 7:00 pm and will conclude by 9:00 pm each evening. Please enter through the doors off of West Liberty Street, the doors closest to the Auditor’s office.  Someone will be down by those doors to let participants in beginning at 6:30 pm each evening of the school.

            All presentations will be live and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the presenters through the webinar format.  The only exception is the March 9 date, which will be a recording of a February 28 presentation. Dates, topics and presenters include:

January 24: Utilizing Precision Agriculture to Guide Management Decisions with Elizabeth Hawkins, OSU Extension Agronomic Systems Field Specialist and John Fulton, OSU Extension Precision Agriculture Specialist

January 31: Assessing Growing Conditions and Impact on Ear Rots, Mycotoxins and Malformation in Corn; with Peter Thomison, OSU Extension Corn Specialist and Pierce Paul, OSU Extension Corn and Wheat Disease Specialist

February 21: Improving Soil Health and Using Cover Crops with Steve Culman, OSU Extension Soil Fertility Specialist and Ryan Haden, OSU-ATI

March 9: Recording of Management Practices to Increase Soybean Yields with Laura Lindsey, OSU Extension Soybean and Wheat Specialist, and Insect Trends from 2016: Western Bean Cutworm and Stink Bugs with Kelley Tilmon, OSU Extension field crop entomologist.

            Pre-registration is requested to the Wayne County Extension office at 330-264-8722 by noon the day before each session to make sure there are enough handouts of the presentations available.
