The Wayne County Extension office is offering subscriptions to the Wayne County IPM Chronicles, our new bi-weekly integrated pest management (IPM) newsletter. Although our weekly on-farm IPM scouting program is limited in the number of farms and acres that can be covered, the newsletter will extend this reach and allow subscribers to get current pest management information based on local IPM scouting reports. The newsletter will cover agronomic crops, commercial vegetable crops and commercial fruit crops.
Each issue of the newsletter will feature what scouts are currently seeing in crop fields along with any insect trap counts and what might be on the horizon. Current control recommendations will be provided for any crop weed, insect or disease concerns. Each issue will also highlight some current topic in integrated pest management. The objective of the newsletter is to help subscribers learn how to use IPM on their fields, learn how to use chemical control options in a more effective and timely manner and learn how to improve their disease, insect, and weed identification skills.
The IPM newsletter will be mailed to subscribers on a bi-weekly basis from May to September. The subscription price is $30. For more information, contact Chris Smedley, Wayne County Extension IPM scout at 330-264-8722. Click on the link below for an informational flyer and subscription form:
