Questions continue to be raised regarding management of prevented plant acres, specifically with regard to the use of cover crops as a forage after September 1.  I have put together a web page on the Wayne County Extension web site with links to resources including articles, publications, presentations and video to help answer questions regarding options for cover crops as potential forages (after September 1) on prevented plant acres, available at https://go.osu.edu/PPmgmtresources.

Growers need to be aware that July 15 is the deadline to file a prevented plant claim with your crop insurance agent and to file your crop report with the Farm Service Agency.  Do not overlook this deadline.
