Pastures represent a resource that is often under-utilized and under managed. Like any resource, pastures respond to good management. OSU Extension Stark County and Stark County NRCS are offering a productive pastures grazing management program scheduled on Thursday evenings in March on March 5, 12 and 19 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the USDA Service Center in Massillon located at 2650 Richville Drive SE. There will also be a grazing field day scheduled for Saturday, May 2 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm that is part of the program series. Topics that will be covered during the program include: An introduction to grazing management, Soils and Plants, and Grazing Livestock Needs.
The registration cost for the productive pastures program is $45 per person. The registration deadline is February 27. Interested individuals can register by going to the Stark County Extension web site at: http://stark.osu.edu and downloading a program flyer and registration form, or by contacting the Stark County Extension office at 330-830-7700, extension 116.
