There are two separate OSU Extension field nights scheduled for Thursday, August 23. Pumpkin production and management is the focus of Pumpkin Field Night at the Western Agricultural Research Station located at 7721 S. Charleston Pike in South Charleston Ohio. The field night runs from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and will highlight results from a drip irrigation study, and powdery mildew fungicide programs. New technology and information on how to utilize cover crops and new plant varieties will be on display. The Hops Field Night is August 23 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Wooster OARDC Horticulture Research Unit 2 located at 5082 Oil City Rd., Wooster. Discussion topics include a galvanized trellis system, insect and disease management, and drip irrigation management. There will be demonstrations of mechanical harvesting, drying and nutrient management via fertigation. The cost is $15 person, which includes a light dinner.
