Raise your hand to support 4-H

Are you a #4-HGrown Alum?  Have you raised your hand online yet?  Recently National 4-H kicked off a campaign to re-connect with 4-H alumni and are challenging states to get the most 4-H alumni to “raise their hand” in support of 4-H by registering on-line at 4-h.org/alumni.

Only 1 in 3 kids have the skills they need to thrive.  That’s why we’re asking you, and the millions of 4-H alumni across the nation to raise your hand and pay it forward to empower the next generation of true leaders.  Raising your hand is easy, just complete the short web-form online at 4-h.org/alumni and by doing so you will help Ohio compete towards winning $20,000.   Currently Ohio 4-H is in the lead and we want to keep it that way.

This campaign started earlier this spring and will conclude on June 30th.  So to make it even more special – if Ohio wins the top prize which we’re currently leading the other states by about 3,000 hands raised, then the counties in Ohio with the most hands raised in the month of June will share in the prize winnings.

If Ohio places first, then the top 5 counties will each earn $2,000, counties 6-15 will earn $600 each, and counties 16-35 will each earn $200.  Wayne County has always had a strong 4-H program so with your help by raising your hand on-line you can help ensure that we keep Indiana and Texas at bay and that we bring home the prize winnings to Ohio and Wayne County.

Another great opportunity to support 4-H locally is our upcoming Wayne County 4-H Fun Fair on June 24th from 4-8 pm at the Wayne County Fairgrounds.  There will be lots of fun carnival type games, raffles, a silent auction, delicious food and fun for all ages.  There will even be a kiddie Tractor pull for both kids and adults.  Game tickets are 5 for a dollar and raffle tickets are $2 each or 6 for $10.

The 4-H Fun Fair is a great opportunity for a family fun night while supporting our mission of positive youth development here in Wayne County.  We are so grateful for the support of our business community in donating many wonderful baskets and items to be auctioned and raffled off and we also want to thank the many volunteers that have been working hard to plan and carry out this year’s 4-H Fun Fair.
