  2. New And Beginning Shepherds: Management Series

    The Ohio Heartland Sheep Improvement Association (OHSIA) is sponsoring a series of meetings that will focus on management topics for new and beginning shepherds.  These meetings are offered at no-charge and are scheduled for evenings on the third Tuesday of March, April and May.  All the meetings will take place at Local Roots Market and Cafe located at 140 S.

  3. Good Agriculture Practices/Water Quality And Testing Workshops

    Wayne County Extension is offering a Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for Vegetable and Fruit Growers workshop, along with an Agricultural Water Quality and Testing workshop, both through The Ohio State University Fruit and Vegetable Safety Program.  Both of the workshops will be held on Monday, March 30 at Fisher Auditorium on the OARDC campus in Wooster at 1680 Madison Avenue.

    March 15 is the annual Week of the Young Child event - our 25th year to celebrate the joy of early childhood.  If you are looking for a way to help your child enjoy some free play activities, join us at Fisher Auditorium on the OARDC campus from noon till 3:00pm.  It’s a great way to enjoy watching your children learn and observe new things in the world around them.

  5. Wayne County Dairy Service Unit Annual Meeting

    Wayne County is Ohio’s number one dairy county in terms of number of dairy cattle and in pounds of milk produced.  The Wayne County Dairy Service Unit (DSU) promotes the dairy industry by planning and conducting an annual dairy twilight tour, sponsoring promotional activities at the Wayne County Fair and maintaining and providing use of a milking parlor at the fair and for various dairy cattle shows and sales throughout the year.  In addition, the Wayne County DSU has helped to support and sponsor educational programs like the dairy management discussion group sessions.  Youth are...

  6. Ne Ohio Small Farm Conference And Trade Show

    The “Living Your Small Farm Dream” conference and trade show will be held Saturday March 28, 2015 at the Shisler Conference Center on the OARDC campus in Wooster located at 1680 Madison Ave Wooster OH 44691. The conference is offered by the OSU Extension Small Farm Program and will provide farm owners and landowners with the opportunity to learn more about how to make their farms work better, expand their operations, or gather ideas on how to utilize rural acreage. 

  7. 4-H Grows Confident and Caring Kids

    4-H grows confident, capable, and caring kids with the life skills to thrive in today’s world and succeed in their boldest dreams for tomorrow.  Working in partnership with 110 universities, 4-H programs are research-backed and offer life changing experiences to youth around the world and right here in Wayne County.

    In Ohio, 4-H is administered through a partnership between the United States Department of Agriculture, Ohio State University (OSU) Extension, which is part of the OSU College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, and local county commissioners.

  8. Farm Transition Workshop

    What does it take to successfully pass on the farm business to the next generation? It takes a lot of hard work, time, and communication and not every farm business succeeds in making the transition.  OSU Extension, Wayne County has scheduled a two part farm transition and succession workshop for Wednesday March11 and Wednesday March 18.  Both days will be held at Fisher Auditorium, 1680 Madison Ave on the OARDC campus in Wooster.  Each day will start at 10:00 am and conclude around 3:00 pm.

  9. Dairy Labor Management Workshop

    The OSU Department of Animal Science is offering a dairy labor management workshop on March 3 at the Twin Oak Dairy located at 14380 Charleston Chillicothe Road in South Solon, OH.  The meeting is intended for farm owners and managers involved in the hiring, training, and/or supervision of dairy farm employees.  The purpose of the meeting is to assist dairy farm owners and managers in:

    The annual Conservation Tillage & Technology Conference (CTC) is scheduled for March 3-4 at the McIntosh Center on the Ohio Northern University campus at 402 West College Ave. in Ada Ohio.  The 2-day conference is organized around multiple program themes or topics each day and within each theme there are multiple presentations throughout the day.
