    Feb. 23, 2015

January 1, 2015 I experienced the most difficult task I’ve ever done in life.  I went to say good-bye to my only sister who had been battling with a disease called myasthenia gravis for more than 15 years I’m not sure where I’m at in the stages of grief, but I’ve become more aware of those around me who also are dealing with loss and grief.  Helen Kubler- Ross outlines the stages of grief that we all go though in our own ways at our own pace.  As you read through, it might help to understand how those around you may process the loss of a loved one, a divorce, the loss of a job or other...

  3. Are Your Financial Goals ‘Smart’?

    Feb. 09, 2015

One of my favorite sayings is “If you don’t control your money, your money will control you.”  If we continue to use the same methods but it’s not helping us reach our goals, then it’s time to re-visit the plan and see what we can change to become more in control.  One of the first things we talk about in class is to set our goals for the year.  Here are some tips to help you make your goals successful, make them SMART.

  6. The Esophageal Feeder

    Feb. 09, 2015

Back in December the OSU Extension Beef Cattle Letter carried a very good article about using a calf esophageal feeder by Dr. Michelle Arnold, Ruminant Extension Veterinarian at the University of Kentucky.  Although the entire article is too long for this column, here is the “guts” of that article, excerpted:

  7. Ohio Saves: Save Money, Reduce Debt, Build Wealth

    Feb. 09, 2015

One of the top three goals for the year for many of us is to save more money in 2015.  That means that we choose to spend less and choose to save more with our everyday decisions.   Here’s a program that might help all of us become better savers.  It’s called America Saves, and Ohio is on board as a partner.

    What is Ohio Saves?

    Jan. 16, 2015

When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, “getting organized” is right up there with “losing weight” and “getting more exercise.” It’s one of those resolutions that comes back to haunt us, year after year. The Soap and Detergent Association offers some easy-to-implement ideas for getting and staying organized around the home.

Clutter makes an otherwise spotless home look less than clean. If cleaning house isn’t your strong point, clutter only makes it more difficult to get the job done. Here are some tips to control clutter and help lighten your cleaning load:
