Pastures represent a resource that is often under-utilized and under managed. Like any resource, pastures respond to good management. OSU Extension Stark County and Stark County NRCS are offering a productive pastures grazing management program scheduled on Thursday evenings in March on March 5, 12 and 19 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the USDA Service Center in Massillon located at 2650 Richville Drive SE. The Wayne County Extension office will again be offering an integrated pest management (IPM) scouting program during the 2015 growing season from the end of April through August. The scouting program is offered for the agronomic crops of alfalfa, corn and soybeans, and for commercial horticulture production including both fruit and vegetable crops. The Ohio dairy enterprise/farm business analysis summary 2013 report has just recently been released. This is a project led by Dianne Shoemaker, OSU Extension Dairy Production Economics Field Specialist. The report contains summary information from 35 dairy farms that participated in the 2013 Ohio Farm Business Analysis and Benchmarking Program.

Private pesticide applicators with a license to purchase and apply restricted use pesticides are required to attend 3 hours of recertification training every 3 years to maintain their license. Private applicator license categories are: Core (basic pesticide handling, application, safety, rules and regulations), 1: Grain and Cereal Field Crops, 2: Forage Crops and Livestock, 3: Fruit and Vegetable Crops, 4: Nursery and Forest Crops, 5: Greenhouse Crops, 6: Fumigation. The annual Northeast Ohio Regional Dairy Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25 at the Buckeye Event Center in Dalton. The dairy conference is planned and organized by the Killbuck Valley Veterinary Medical Association (KVVMA). Conference registration begins at 9:00 am and the conference opening remarks are at 9:55. The day includes general sessions and time to visit with exhibitors. The day concludes at 3:30 pm.
